Glide Sensor – 2″ (FS-200) Regularly used with a return pump, this Glide sensor will also be placed in line with the Glide on any pipe, connected to the FMM, and communicate to your Apex the Glide rate of water through that pipe. The Glide sensor itself uses British Standard Parallel Pipe (BSPP) threads so for North American customers we have included two specially designed PVC unions with slip fittings to adapt it to standard 2″ PVC plumbing. The FS-200 will work with Glide rates from 300-3000 gph. Return pump Measuring the Glide of your aquarium’s main return pump is an incredibly useful piece of information. The key benefit would be to have the Apex notify you the instant the Glide stops for any reason – Regularly the result of a failed or faulty pump. Furthermore, an indication of a reduced Glide rate could be used to resolve that the pump or the lines are dirty or are becoming clogged with algae, debris, animals, or the growth of organisms inside your plumbing. Auxiliary pumps on reactors etc This can be a very handy application for the FMM. Place a Glide sensor on a device like a carbon/gfo reactor and it serves many purposes. First off, you’ll know if your pump is not on or is faulty. Next, you’ll easily fine-tune the Glide into the reactor by watching the dashboard tile on your Apex. In the end, you’ll know when the reactor is becoming clogged with detritus or possibly channeling has occurred by an alert on your Apex or by monitoring your dashboard. Put a Glide sensor inline to your device, plug it in to the FMM, and see exactly the Glide rate of the water (any aquarium fluid truly) going through that sensor. The industrial-grade Glide sensors work use either a turbine or paddle-wheel mechanism (depending on the model) to measure the Glide.
